People

Thor Egerton is Australia's top ranked athlete in the sport of Mountain Bike Orienteering, is completing her PhD, loves Adventure Racing and was the very first person to be profiled on GO! Girls Outdoors!  Click on her name to read it.

Nancy Sathre-Vogel and her husband decided to take their twin ten year-old sons on a family holiday - riding their bikes from Alaska to Argentina!  Their website has a lot of interesting resources, including teaching resources and tips on home schooling, and you can read her profile by visiting the link above.

Julie Angus gave up a career in Molecular Biology to cycle 13,000km and row 10,000km with her now-husband Colin, who was completing a human powered circumnavigation of the world.  Their subsequent adventures have involved them designing a bike/rowboat system - you can tow the boat behind the bike, and the bike fits in the boat for rowing.  More details are in her profile.

Organisations and Events

Gear up Girl (also featured in a GO! Girls Outdoors profile) run workshops and recreational cycling events for women in some Australian states.

The Women's Cycling Pages on the Bicycle Victoria website are a great resource if you're looking for information, or events around Victoria.

Velo Girls are a cycling club exclusively for women and girls in the San Francisco Bay Area.  They have a comprehensive website that is well worth a look, even if you don't live in California.

Women's Cycling - a Canadian based website all about cycling, specifically for women.  Another comprehensive website with lots of great information.

Books & Magazines

Full Tilt by Dervla MurphyFull Tilt: Ireland to India with a Bicycle by Dervla Murphy - the techno-brain behind the GO! Girls Outdoors website and an experienced cycle tourer himself says this is his 'favourite book in the world'!  About the cycling trip Dervla took from Dublin to Delhi in 1963, with a revolver in her pocket.  She's continued cycling ever since and has several more books to enjoy if you like this one.

Rowed Trip: A Journey by Oar from Scotland to the Middle East by Colin and Julie Angus.  All about Julie and Colin's rowing and cycling adventure on their special bike/rowboat system.  Released September 2009.
