Julie Angus gave up a career in Molecular Biology to cycle 13,000km and row 10,000km with her now-husband Colin, who was completing a human powered circumnavigation of the world. Velo Girls are a cycling club exclusively for women and girls in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have a comprehensive website that is well worth a look, even if you don't live in California.

Books & Magazines
Full Tilt: Ireland to India with a Bicycle by Dervla Murphy - the techno-brain behind the GO! Girls Outdoors website and an experienced cycle tourer himself says this is his 'favourite book in the world'! About the cycling trip Dervla took from Dublin to Delhi in 1963, with a revolver in her pocket. She's continued cycling ever since and has several more books to enjoy if you like this one.
Rowed Trip: A Journey by Oar from Scotland to the Middle East by Colin and Julie Angus. All about Julie and Colin's rowing and cycling adventure on their special bike/rowboat system. Released September 2009.
